We're considering creating a video training program to help men replicate the results of the most successful online daters.

It seems that most men struggle with online dating. According Dan Ariely, Günter J. Hitsch, and Ali Hortaçsu in their 2004 University of Chicago study, 57% of men don’t receive even a single email response; and it’s estimated that over 90% of men lie in their profiles to improve their results.

I found these statistics startling, given my own experience. In the first 18 months of online dating, I received more than 1,000 emails, collected over 398 phone numbers, and went on over 198 dates.

This led me to ask: Is it possible to replicate the kinds of results I was getting?

The first thing I did was to scour through all the information currently available, only to find that almost ALL of it is purely anecdotal advice that can’t be generalized to most guys.

So I (with some help from others) started collecting and analyzing the methods and techniques of some very successful online daters to see if could discover some general patterns.

In particular, we looked at what they were doing at each stage:

In their profiles

In their initial emails

In their subsequent correspondence

(and much more... )

But can these techniques work for other men? One popular belief is that only men of a certain income level, height, age, or looks can be successful online.

However, our tests – particularly with older, shorter, poorer, or less traditionally attractive men – have already produced some notable results¸ including one 33 year-old male who, on his first attempt, posted a profile that received email responses from over 50 women, from all over the country, in under 24 hours.

And we're now in a position to share what we've learned to the general public, but, basically, we'd like to figure out if this would be a project that’s worth investing our time and attention in.

Right now, we're thinking about creating a training program that includes a book, supplemented with 15-20 hours of step-by-step video instruction. At the very least, it would contain examples of all the things that the top guys online are doing (in their profiles, in their 1st emails, etc.), and to help guys "see" exactly what we're seeing in our research.

Online Dating Research

Several years ago, I experimented with online dating. In the first 18 months of doing so, I received more than 1,000 emails, collected over 398 phone numbers, and went on over 198 dates... eventually leading to my current girlfriend (who I’m very luck to have found).

However, according Dan Ariely, Günter J. Hitsch, and Ali Hortaçsu in their 2004 University of Chicago study, 57% of men don’t receive even a single email response; and it’s estimated that over 90% of men lie in their profiles to improve their results.

I started Zentropik Research Inc. to investigate what makes some people more successful online than others (with an initial primary focus on men seeking women).

We are currently pursuing three research tracks. The first is to collect and analyze the methods and techniques of some very successful (heterosexual male) online daters. To this end, we looked at not only some younger subjects, but also some in their 30s, 40s, and older.

The second is to integrate these methods with quantitative analysis of profile attractiveness and messaging behavior.

The third is to develop a practical guidebook for how to be successful online, targeted for men seeking women.

Is it possible to teach men to replicate the results of the most successful online daters?

So far, we have noted many postive results, including one 33 year-old male who, on his first attempt, posted a profile that received email responses from over 50 women, from all over the country, in under 24 hours.
